If you’re anything like me, you love screenwriting and want to turn it into a career, but you struggle with the practical: sitting down and getting it done.
Then there's the emotional journey: Facing rejection, unable to finish a script, getting bad coverage. It's enough to make you wanna give up, to make you feel like you're not cut out for it.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
I’ve been there. In fact, I sold the second script I ever wrote to a major Hollywood studio, but that early success was followed by years and years of failure and internal and external struggle. Ultimately I found myself with no career, no connections, and my personal and professional life completely falling apart. I was lost. The words wouldn’t come anymore. This thing that I loved so much felt so out of my grasp.
That’s when I had lunch with a friend of mine named John who completely shook up my world. At that lunch, he said to me “your purpose in life is to take all of those personal and profession struggles and use your talent of writing to help those who have gone through similar situations.”
From that moment on, I felt free. With this new mission statement for my life, my writing career began to take off (I’ve since become an award-winning writer and producer) and now I’m ready to share those secrets with you. My goal is to provide you with all the community and resources that I wish I had when I was starting out

When you hear the term “Character-Driven Screenplays,” what do you think of? I immediately think of stuffy, Oscar-bait bio-pics or indie mumble-core movies about a couple fighting in an apartment all weekend. But the truth is that character is what connects us to stories. In fact, every story follows one or more characters. Even if those characters are robots, lamps, or intergalactic space monsters.
When you write a screenplay, your job is to connect with the audience. The more an audience connects with the story, the more engaged they’ll be while they’re watching and the more it will stick with them long after they leave.
When you learn to write great characters, it will elevate you above the thousands of other writers out there. Readers will engage with your story! Actors will be fighting to play your characters! Viewers will leave the film wanting to talk about it (or argue about it) with their friends! You’ll sell a screenplay for a million dollars and get to hang out with Bill Murray on George Clooney’s yacht!
